Gotye’s smash hit Somebody That I Used To Know is a dominant $1.11 favourite to take the number one spot in Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 countdown on Australia Day.

Sportingbet Australia’s Tony Wilmot said the song was the shortest priced favourite since he started doing the prices in 2005.

“The song has been a huge hit both on Triple J and mainstream radio and there’s no way I can see it being beaten,” said Wilmot.

“If it gets knocked off it would be as bigger upset as if Black Caviar was to be beaten on Friday night.”

Wilmot said, while the big bets had all been for the favourite, there was a couple of songs that had attracted some money at longer odds.

“Former Idol contestant Matt Corby’s song Brother has been backed in from $67 to $14 and some punters stand to win four figure sums if it can snatch top spot,” Wilmot said.

“Lonely Boy by the The Black Keys and Video Games by Lana Del Rey have also attracted some longer odds support at $41 and $51 respectively.”

“We all know Lleyton has so much fight and can never be discounted in any match he plays,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said. “However, Triocki is the fifth seed for a reason and will make it hard going for Hewitt and will rightly start favourite.”

In set betting, a 2-0 Troicki win is the $2.00 favourite, followed by a 2-1 Troicki victory ($3.75), a 2-0 Hewitt win ($4.50) and a 2-1 Hewitt triumph ($5.50).

Other big names on court tomorrow include Marcos Baghdatis, who’ll start as the $1.28 favourite in his match with Dmrity Tursunov ($3.45), and Radek Stepanek ($1.46), who is tipped to beat Xavier Malisse ($2.61).

Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro is the $2.56 favourite to win the 2012 Sydney International, with Richard Gasquet and John Isner on the second line of betting at $6.00. Hewitt is a $32 chance.

Speculation surrounding Serena Williams’ ankle injury has cost her favouritism at next week’s Australian Open, with punters getting on board Petra Kvitova to win the Grand Slam with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

Williams was once as short as $2.69 to win the tournament when the market first opened.

Placed at $3.26 prior to the beginning of the Brisbane International, her withdrawal from that tournament due to injury has seen fans jump off the early favourite, with odds of $4.40 now available.

World number 2 Petra Kvitova has come in from $5.20 to $3.72 favouritism following Williams’ injury.

“Punters couldn’t get enough of Serena Williams early on but her injury has scared a few away with some speculation as to whether her ankle will hold up,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

“Kvitova has the form to suggest she can go all the way and depending on how she goes in Sydney this week she could start even shorter.”

Kvitova is also the $3.26 favourite to win this week’s Sydney International tournament while after winning last week’s Brisbane International, Kaia Kanepi has come in from $45 to $19.75 to win the Australian Open.

In other Australian Open betting, sportsbet.com.au are running a 5 set money back promotion for head to head bets, where if a punters player loses in 5 sets they will get their money back!

The Crocodiles are $1.80 favourites in their match against the Wollongong Hawks ($2.00) at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre, the Blaze will start at $1.67 in their match with the Sydney Kings ($2.20) at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and the Breakers ($1.90) are slight favourites ahead of their clash at the State Netball Hockey Centre with the Melbourne Tigers ($1.92).

“Home court is such a huge advantage in basketball so it’s not often that the overwhelming majority of away teams start as favourites,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said. “The NBL is a close competition. There isn’t much separating the teams and the odds this round clearly reflect that.”

The Adelaide 36ers are the only home team to start favourites this weekend, installed at $1.65 with opponent Cairns the $2.25 outsiders.

Perth is the $2.25 favourite to win the 2011/12 NBL Championship ahead of defending champions New Zealand Breakers ($3.75), Gold Coast Blaze ($5.00) and the Tigers ($11.00).

Punters are dropping off the Melbourne Stars left, right and centre following their shock loss to the Perth Scorchers and will start this weekend’s all important local derby as underdogs with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

Prior to Wednesday night’s loss the Stars were favourites in head to head betting against the Melbourne Renegades. However, with the Stars having lost their last three games and the Renegades in red hot form, the odds have been switched with the Renegades now starting at $1.85 and the Stars at $1.95.

Punters weren’t able to split the Melbourne teams at the beginning of the season, with both teams starting as equal $5.50 favourites to win the championship before the first ball was bowled.

However that has all changed in the past few days following the Stars’ loss to Perth, with Warnies’ team taking a massive slide from $5.50 to $26 overnight to win the championship. Punters have snapped up the odds and in the lead up to this game they have now settled back down at $15.

The Melbourne Renegades have taken the opposite path this season. Once as long as $13 to go all the way, their recent winning streak has seen them come back into $5.50.

“With the Stars’ publicity machine working overtime pumping up Warnie and co it was pretty easy to buy into the hype surrounding them at the start of the season,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

“Warnie has been holding up his end but he must be wondering when some of his teammates are going to step up and help him out!”

Despite today’s sacking of coach Mehmet Durakovic, the Melbourne Victory have been installed as $1.73 favourites by online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to win their A-League clash with the Newcastle Jets ($4.50) at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

“How many times do you see a coach get sacked and the team come out and win their next match?” sportbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said. “We think the Victory will do just that against Newcastle and with the team they have, they should.”

In other A-League matches, the Brisbane Roar ($2.10) are tipped to halt the run of the rejuvenated Adelaide United ($3.25), Wellington Phoenix are $1.75 favourites to continue their stellar home form against Perth Glory, who are $4.50 outsiders, the league leading Mariners ($2.19) are favoured to beat Sydney FC ($3.00) at the Sydney Football Stadium, while the bottom placed Gold Coast ($2.40) will go in to their match against the Melbourne Heart ($2.80) as slight favourites.

“Wednesday’s matches threw up a lot of interesting results and plenty of goals so there is value to be had if punters feel there are some upsets on the cards, as the majority of home teams will start their matches as strong favourites,” Hawes said.

In Grand Final winner betting, Wellington have been the biggest movers, shortening from $31 in to fifth favourite at $12 while the Victory have drifted from $8.50 out to $14. The Mariners have firmed back into favouritism at $3.10, followed by Brisbane at $3.30.

With less than 200 days to go until the Games, Pittman is paying $2.00 to board the plane to London. However, even if she does make it, she has been given next to no chance of winning her first gold medal, with punters able to get odds of $101 if they think she can pull off a miracle.

“We would love to see her do well and finally win that gold medal she has been working for. But after sacking her coach with only seven months to go before the Games, her preparation has to be questioned,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

The AFL’s newest team looks set for an induction from hell, with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au giving the Greater Western Sydney Giants almost no chance of beating cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans following the release of Round 1 markets.

The Swans are paying $1.02 to beat GWS who are $14 in head to head betting for the opening game of the season.

While the Swans vs Giants match has been deemed a one sided affair, sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson said there was plenty of value for punters who wanted to get in early on the other matches.

“History shows that all new teams struggle early on. When you add to the fact that the Swans will be out to prove that they are still top dogs in Sydney, the Giants could be for a very rough induction into the AFL,” said Anderson.

“Some of the other matches are a lot harder to pick, so punters who think we’ve got a market wrong can take advantage of the odds.

“There are usually a couple of upsets in round one, but last year’s better-performed teams including the Pies, Cats, Eagles and Blues have reportedly had good preseasons to date and have been tipped to start of the season on a winning note.”
