Manly heavily backed in NRL Grand Final

Despite beating premiership fancies, Wests and Melbourne in the past fortnight, the Warriors have been friendless in Grand Final betting with Manly raging $1.50 favourites at Sportingbet Australia.

“We took bets of $22,000 and $11,000 at $1.91 on Manly giving up 5.5 start as soon as betting was posted and it has just been one way traffic ever since,” said Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan.

“The money kept coming when the line moved to 6 points and we have taken plenty of bets of $10,000 and $5000 on the Sea Eagles straight out at $1.50.

“There hasn’t been a big bet placed on the Warriors yet this week.”

Sullivan said there were a number of punters who would be cheering on the Warriors though after securing huge odds early in the season.

“We took a bet of $5000 at $21 in April and we also took bets of $2000 at $19 and again at $15 so the Warriors will certainly have their fans on Saturday,” Sullivan said.

Sportingbet also bet as big as $23 about Manly early in the season but Sullivan said surprisingly they hadn’t attracted big support until they started trimming right up in betting.
