Sportingbet Australia Sponsors NSW Super Stayers Series

Corporate bookmaker, Sportingbet Australia will sponsor the Greyhound Racing NSW Super Stayers Series this year in their first major greyhound sponsorship deal.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said he was excited about working with GRNSW and the opportunities sponsoring the series would provide.

“We have always had a great relationship with Greyhound Racing New South Wales and I am sure this deal will be beneficial for both of us,” Sullivan said.

“We have sponsored horse racing in other states but this is our first major venture in Greyhound racing.

“Betting on greyhounds continues to grow at Sportingbet Australia, with fixed odds betting proving extremely popular and this deal will give us a much greater presence in the market.

“Sportingbet Australia already contributes to Greyhound racing through a product fee but this is another way we can give back to the industry.”

GRNSW Chief Executive Brent Hogan said the Sportingbet Super Stayers Series would play a major role in strengthening distance racing in New South Wales.

“A key focus of GRNSW in our Chasing 2020 strategic plan was addressing the decline in staying races throughout New South Wales,” said Mr Hogan.

“The introduction of the Sportingbet Super Stayers Series will introduce a coordinated programme of staying races and be a further incentive for trainers and owners to focus their stayers on racing in New South Wales following on from the substantial increases in prizemoney introduced for staying races last year.

“GRNSW welcomes the partnership with Sportingbet Australia and look forward to a long term association with both with the SportingBet Super Stayers Series and greyhound racing in general.”

The Sportingbet Super Stayers series starts at The Gardens on Wednesday 6 April 2011.
